The Chicago real estate market is continuing its slow rise up from the slowdown of 2008. I have seen more buyers coming out to look at my listings, most recently a stunning condo in the Elysian. I had an Open House two days ago and it was well attended. Here is a link to a video of the Elysian building. Video It is very well done!
Coldwell Banker recently invited the top brokers from the firm to come and discuss the market at the MK restaurant recently. The point was made that we have all embraced new technologies quite well but that people still respond best to personal contact, and to not lose sight of getting out there in front of people and hitting the phones to talk to folks in person. I couldn't agree more! Also to not get so intensely focused on our business that we lose our fullness of life, and to have passion for other facets of life besides our real estate careers. (Guilty as charged!)
I was also happy to attend Crain's Chicago Real Estate Forum at the wonderful Chicago Club. It was focused on Commercial Real Estate but still had some nice lessons for those of us in the retail marketplace as well. The speaker was Quintin Primo, a famous, successful entrepreneur. It struck me as I listened to him that I used to see him while riding the elevator up to my office in the Hancock Building. What a small world!
I wanted to tell everyone about an important event. November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month! My good friend Jill Saponaro has worked very hard on this, and on November 8 at 10:30AM there will be a special event in the North Lobby of the Willis Tower to commemorate the fact that many of Chicago's prominent buildings, including the Willis Tower, the Merchandise Mart, the Wrigley Building, and the Trump Tower, will have purple lights on for the whole month of November! Feel free to come and show your support for helping fight this terrible disease.
Getting back to Coldwell Banker, our Gold Coast Office decided to participate in the upcoming Disney Michigan Avenue Christmas Parade. We are working with the Near North Association to see how they want us to help out - maybe we'll see you there!
Finally, this wouldn't be complete without some mention of Halloween. Lots of pet owners dressed up their four legged friends recently for the Tails in the City pet parade. Here are some nice pics, hope you all enjoy taking a look!
