It's hard to believe we're into the final weekends of summer. But, that just means it's time to savor all of the summertime fun - before we head into fall. Lucky for us, there is no shortage of great family-friendly events taking place in the city and the surrounding area all weekend long.
Here is the Raising World Citizens list of the top five multicultural events for families in Chicago this weekend - Friday, August 22, Saturday, August 23, and Sunday, August 24:
1. Taste of Greece
100 - 400 S. Halsted St. (Greektown)
Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24, 12 - 11 pm
Fans of Greek food will want to head to Chicago's Greektown for the 25th annual Taste of Greece. The culinary festival features Mediterranean food, offering tastes of food from restaurants located throughout the neighborhood. The two-day festival also features music and entertainment, including Greek bands, belly dancers, and fames for kids and families.

2. Bucktown Arts Fest
Senior Citizens Memorial Park
2300 N. Oakley/2300 N. Lonsdale (Bucktown)
Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24, 11 am - 7 pm
The Bucktown Arts Fest takes over Senior Citizens Memorial Park in Bucktown this weekend. During the two-day event, you can browse works of art, enjoy music, see dance performances, and more. My sons always love to do an art project of their own and then play on the playground at nearby Holstein Park.
3. The Boulevard Festival
3100 W. Logan Blvd. (Logan Square)
Friday, August 22, 5 - 10 pm
Saturday, August 23, 12 - 10 pm
Sunday, August 24, 12 - 9 pm
$5 suggested donation
The diversity of Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood will be on full display this weekend during The Boulevard Festival. The three-day festival features a mix of musical groups and a variety of local fare. It's the perfect excuse for you to stroll "the boulevard" and take the sites and cultures that come together in one of the city's most dynamic neighborhoods.
Do your kids dream about being great martial arts warriors like mine do? If so, you'll want to check out Cirque Shanghai's ninth summer season at Navy Pier - before the show closes on Mon., September 1. This year, the production is called Cirque Shanghai: Warriors. It combines "awe-inspiring acrobats with the martial prowess of Chinese Kung Fun and Wu Shut masters." The acts include The Kinetic Poles, Water Meteor, Pageant of Arms, Wheel of Destiny, and Imperial Thunder. The show schedule is available online.
5. Millennium Park's Family Fun Festival
Now through Sunday, August 24, 10 am - 3 pm
Family Fun Tent, Millennium Park, Chase Promenade North
201 E. Randolph Dr. (Lakeshore East)
There are just a few more days left to enjoy Millennium Park's Family Fun Festival. This weekend, the festival's activity zone programming will be led by Chicago's acclaimed Lookingglass Theatre. While you're at the festival, you can catch a Wiggleworms class at 10 am, join in the Reading Circle at 11 am, and enjoy a live music or dance performance at 1 pm - including Halau i Ka Pono on Saturday and Tsukasa Taiko on Sunday. The complete schedule is available on the Millennium Park website.
Summertime road trip inspiration:
Interested in heading out on a summertime road trip? Then, this weekend is the perfect time to hop in your car and head north to Milwaukee, Wis. for Mexican Fiesta. The three-day festival celebrates Mexican fun, food, culture and music - right along on the lakefront.
