African-American parents hold it down in Englewood

African-American parents hold it down in Englewood
Trevor McGraw, Englewood dad (CBS)

In light of all the negative reports about our violent Chicago neighborhoods, one reporter is making sure the good news gets the light of day. CBS 2's Dorothy Tucker interviews African-American parents in Englewood who are making a positive difference in the lives of their children in the midst of the turmoil.

Good law abiding  black families do exist, but we only hear about the shootings.  It's time we spread "positive propaganda"; good families are not the exception in the inner-city, they are the rule. Thank you Dorothy Tucker and CBS 2 for keeping the news balanced.

I pursued a satisfying career in the advertising industry, served as a volunteer mentor and parent educator at my two (now grown up) sons' schools and have actually stayed happily married for over a quarter of a century. However, my most gratifying achievement was raising my sons well. I'm not saying there wasn't a little bit of hell raising going on, but you live and learn. Now I'm passing the knowledge on to you. My goal is to turn these nuggets of wisdom into reference books for parents.
