Here’s a rundown of some of the great Chicago pet events on tap throughout the Chicagoland area thisweekend.

Saturday, September 20

Fromm PetFestMilwaukee – Summerfest has gone to the dogs! Not quite, but the company that produces Summerfest has joined forces with Fromms Pet Food for Fromms Petfest at Henry Meier Festival Park from 10 am until 6 pm. Fromm Petfest is a free family event and will include dock diving, grooming competitions, a pet-themed marketplace, family-focused games and activities, contests, live music, food and more. And yes, parking is free too!

Valparaiso – Hit the Pet Supplies Plus at 2410 LaPorte Avenue from 10 am to 1 pm for an adoption event for Lakeshore PAWS.

Fall fest

Wheaton – DuPage County Animal Care & Control holds it’s Fall Festival Pet Expo and Adopt-A-Thon from 11 am to 3 pm at the shelter at 120 N. County Farm Rd. Free admission and parking with a bake and craft sale, rummage sale, kids fest, car show and so much more. And, did we mention over 20 rescues at this pet-friendly event.

Batavia

Batavia – Let your voice be heard outside the Petland at 401 North Randall Road with a peaceful, educational protest connecting the dots between puppy mills and pet stores. It will be on the Corner of Mill Road and Randall Road, by the bus stop in front of the Chili's Restaurant. The protest will be from noon until 2.

Chicago – Precious Pets Almost Home hosts an adoption event from noon until 3 pm at the Kriser’s in Streetervills at 356 East Ohio. Meet the adoptable cats and kittens and meet your new best friend.

Chicago – Check out the adoptable pets from CACC at the Portage Park Adoption event at 4100 North Long Avenue from 10 am untl 3 pm. All animals are either spayed or neutered and vet-checked for just $65.

Chicago – Join The Puppy Mill Project and numerous rescues as they March on Michigan Avenue for Puppy Mill Awareness Day from noon until 2 pm. Marchers meet in front of Tribune Tower just north of the river and head to Water Tower Place before heading back south on Michigan Avenue.

10583952_273386096201649_3194099274713982022_nChicago – Join Live Again Rescue for an Art and Wine Fundraiser at Arts N Spirits at 1921 North Damen from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. Professional artists give tips to help you create your own masterpiece. Space limited and tickets are $40 – sign-up here.

Chicago – Check out the new adoption center in the South loop at 611 West Roosevelt and join Precious Pets Almost Home from noon to t2 pm for an adoption event.
