Chicago pet events during Valentine's week

Are you ready to fall in love? Yes, Valentine's Day is Friday and if you're looking for true ways to show your love, you can help support pet rescue at some of these great Chicago Pet events for Valentine's week. You can adopt the love of your life at one of many fun adoption events or sing your heart out at Karaoke for a Cause or Zumba or Rock or say cheers over beers all to help the animals. Through Sunday, February 16

You can fall in love this week just in time for Valentine’s Day and make sure you have someone to love for years to come. No, I’m not talking about finding a romantic partner…but you can find a wonderful pet that needs a home. Here’s a link that gives the details on adoption events being held through the month by West Suburban Humane Society and through the end of the week by Tree House and The Anti-Cruelty Society!  

Tuesday, February 11

Chicago – Enjoy the Westminster Dog Show with fellow dog lovers and support the literacy programs at SitStayRead at Best in Show. The event will be at Chicago’s Hard Rock Café from 6:30 to ten and includes food, drinks, auction, music and the live broadcast of the dog show. Tickets are $100 for people and $50 for dogs.

Thursday, February 13

Karaoke bannerChicago – Here's a Chicago pet event that is just starting to take off. Help support the cat rescue efforts of St. Sophia’s Forgotten Felines at Karaoke for a Cause at Chicago Party Animals from 6:30 to 9:30. Bring you socialized dog and sing along. No charge, donation bar and fun raffle prizes. And, great cats needing to find a home.

Friday, February 14 through Sunday, February 16

Fall in love at PetSmart this weekend as they celebrate their National Adoption Weekend at all 1,300 of their stores. Shelters and rescues will be on hand between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m.to 6 p.m. on Sunday. (More adoption events here.)

Saturday, February 15

Chicago – Find your new best friend at Ruff Haus Pets at 4652 North Rockwell during their adoption event with One Tail at a Time. Check out the adoptable dogs and the great work being done in Chicago by the organization between noon and 3 p.m.

Niles – Work of some of the winter blues with Zumba for Paws at the Niles Family Fitness Center at 987 Civic Center Drive from 1 to 3 p.m. Donations are $15 with several instructors there for the party. Donations of food, toys, leashes, collars and crates to help the animals in the care of Fur Angels Animal Sanctuary.

BFFChicago – Celebrate Valentine’s weekend with some hot puppy love at Be Fido’s Friend’s Second Annual Valentine’s party from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Bucktown Pub at 1658 West Cortland.

Well mannered dogs may party down and tickets are just $5. Enjoy sweets, kissing booth and so much more.

Bourbonnais - Help support the great work being done by New Beginnings for Cats at the Purrfect Pasta Dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Municipal Center at 600 Main Street NW. Pasta, salad, dessert all for just $10 per adult, $5 for kids under 10 and kids under 2 are free.

Chicago – Here's another fun option on the Chicago pet event calendar. Looking for a better way to get into shape? Check out the great classes offered by the K-9 Fit Club at this event for New Leash on Life at The Anti-Cruelty Society from 4 to 9 p.m.. Check out classes from beginner to Bow Wow Boot Camp. Participate in some great workouts and check out some wonderful pet products from a host of dog-fit-friendly companies.

Oswego – Join It’s A Pittie Rescue for an adoption event at Go Dog Go from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 100 Main Street. Check out the pets needing home and the cool products at the store.

Beers for BarksChicago – Celebrate all the great volunteers and rescues for two Chicago area rescues at Beers for Barks at Delilah’s at 2771 North Lincoln Avenue. Tickets are $35 and include beer and pizza and must be purchased in advanced. Event benefits Secondhand Snoots and Chicagoland Eskie Rescue. Get tickets via PayPal at chicagolandeskierescue@live.com or by mail at PO Box 1421 in Elmhurst.

Chicago – Rock out to the sounds of Pawpurrs and HAG at parlour at 6541 North Clark in Chicago to support Famous Fido Rescue. Tickets are just $10 (donate at the door) and the Pawty starts at 8 p.m. Free Champaign for the first hour and lots of fun raffles and great music.

Sunday, February 16

2-16 MuttMeowsChicago – Need a new furry friend in your life? Stop by Chicago Party Animals at 1133 West Fulton Market between 11 and 3 today for Mutts, Meows and Mimosas and check out the great adoptable pets from 7 cat and dog shelters and rescue groups. Donation bar, cool raffle items, great pet products on sale…and…pets needing homes. The event is free and it’s also a great chance to meet groups and learn about fostering.

River Forest - Did you know it's Adopt-A-Rescue Rabbit Month? Animal Care League of Oak Park holds a special rabbit adoption event today from noon to 4 p.m. at the PetCo at 7265 Lake Street.
