Christmas in July: Still time to vote for Chicago-area rescues

It may be hot and steamy in Chicago this week but it's also beginning to look a lot like Christmas...Christmas in July that is. It's time for the third annual contest sponsored by Kriser’s that awards winning rescues with plenty of pet food and supplies to help tide them over through the year.

There are currently 10 rescues looking for support for Christmas in July in Chicago. You can vote through Monday, July 22 on Kriser's Facebook page and can cast one vote per 24 hour period per rescue. The winning rescue in each are will receive $15,000 in food and supplies. The second place winner receives $5,000 and third place will receive $2,500.

Last year’s Christmas in July donations helped feed more than 150 dogs at One Tail at a Time, Chicago’s grand prize winner. Check out the nominations below. You may also cast ballots for rescues in Colorado and Southern California.

    Raining Cats and Dogs

I am a crazy cat lady and puppy mill warrior that blogs to advocate and educate about pet issues. In American animal controls, millions of pets are abandoned each year and an estimated 4 million die just because there are not enough homes. It truly seems like it’s Raining Cats & Dogs.
