Chicago pet events: July 18-22

Last weekend was a huge weekend for dog events. There’s not as much happening this weekend, but there are still some great Chicago pet events to support and raise funds for animal rescue from a Meow Luau to Pet Expos and a Purrsapalooza and more.

Thursday, July 18

It’s Thursday and that means it’s time for off leash fun at another Tailing Thursday Summer Mixer at Chicago Party Animals from 6 to 9 p.m. Stop by for spicy treats from the Curried Mobile and frozen treats (yum) from Starfruit. Enjoy a donation bar with two specialty cocktails and beer. Take home complimentary dog treats from the treat bar. Take a chance at Karaoke or cheer others while they sing. Karaoke starts at 7pm. Chicago Party Animals is at 1133 West Fulton Market.

Cool down from a hot day with a tropical party to help the Cats at Tree House Humane Society at the Meow Luau.

Swing by Trader Todds at 3216 North Sheffield in Chicago from 6 to 8 p.m. for a luau aimed at helping homeless cats in Chicago. Tickets for the Meow Luau are just $20 in advance or $25 to the doo gets you an open bar, appetizers and more for two hours of fun supporting the mission of Tree House Humane Society.

Saturday, July 20

There are some fun Chicago pet events for Saturday as well.

It’s a dog’s day and cat’s day at the Windy City Pet Expo from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Admission is free and it’s a pet friendly event. Stop by to meet rescues with adoptable pets, vendors with cool pet items, demonstrations, entertainment and meet Shorty Rossi of Pit Boss. Learn more on the event site. The Pet Expo will be at the Odeum Expo Center at 1033 North Villa Avenue in Villa Park.

Calling all dirty dogs! Kriser's Kildeer location is partnering with Whole Foods from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Shampooch, a community dog wash event organized to raise funds for Young at Heart Pet Rescue. While your dog is getting washed outside of Whole Foods, you can come over to Kriser's to check out the adoptable senior pets from Young at Heart Pet Rescue.

Stop by Collar & Leash a t1435 North Wells in Chicago for a great adoption event from noon until 3 p.m. This week there will be three different rescues – Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control (FCACC) and Bow Wow Revolution will be there with their cats and dogs and St. Sophia’s Forgotten Felines will be on hand with their adorable cats and kittens.Purrsapalooza

Time for another great cat party – Purrsapalooza at the Chrome Rack Bar & Grill as they raise funds to help the cats and kittens in the car of Purrs from the Heart. The event gets underway at 6 p.m. with a $5 cover kicking in at 9 – music, food fun ad lots of great activities to help the rescue. Learn more online. Sunday, July 21

It’s time for a Dip, Clip and Chip event to benefit Lulu’s Locker Rescue from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at I’ll Be Doggone at 9620 Willow Lane in Mokena. Stop by to have your pet washed and blown dry for just $15 (dip), a nail trim is $5 (clip) and microchip is just $15 (chip). If  your pet needs all three, it’s just $30. Volunteers from Lulu’s will take care of  your dog while you check out the adoptables, raffles and more.

Lincoln Square will be home to an Angel’s with Tails event from noon until 4 p.m. today sponsored by Merricks and PAWS. Along with PAWS Chicago, Chicago English Bulldog Rescue, Leaving Tracks, the Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue and Northern Illinois Pug Rescue will be at the various shops on the 4600-4600 block of North Lincoln.
