Help! A sneaky sewing serger is seducing me

I have been involved in an advanced sewing class for the past five weeks. I am really enjoying it and getting my granddaughter's Cinderella costume made as I learn all kinds of techniques about heirloom sewing, garment adjustments and patterns. But I need your help. A sneaky sewing serger is seducing me each week in class. I don't need another machine. Or do I?

Here is the vixen right here. My teacher does all the threading and adjusting so all I do is sew or rather serge. It is so much fun!

My teacher tells me that this machine is easy to thread as it has a magical breeze that does it. Sounds great to me. She has had me finish my seams with it.dsc04906

The skirt is huge and has six seams which are all on the bias. This shiny fabric is very fragile and unravels quickly.

Am I worried? No, I am not. I have serged each and every one of those seams. They are dsc04904fantastic! I want to kiss them.

But you haven't seen the best part. The tulle skirt is two layers, 10 yards. Those seams were also all serged by ME. dsc04907

This time the magic serger did a rolled hem. Those seams are fabulous. I feel so professional when I look at them.

This sly machine was not done, oh no. The teacher made some more adjustments and that serger was not only finishing the seams on the shrug, it was gathering them.

I am so taken by this new machine. However, there is one catch. It is not free!

Can you believe it? It is more than I have laying around. But, guess what?

I can finance it. So easy! 12 payments that pay it off and it's mine.

I want it, I really do. BUT do I really need it? How much garment sewing am I going to do?

Is this just a fling? A fall crush that will fade away? And most importantly, I have a sneaking suspicion my teacher will not come to my house every day and adjust it.

I know! How very disappointing. The current system is working so very well for me!

Will it just gather dust and stare at me in an accusing way? Or will we live happily every after? Is it prudent or am I being financially impulsive?

Help!

Sew happy!
