Have you ever read the original Frankenstein by Mary Shelly? Me either! But that is about to change. My classics book club is reading it and will discuss it in, when else, October. I have to figure out what I am going to be sewing for a Frankenstein book club and Halloween.
I am eager to read the original and see where all the myths and legends began. I know she wrote it because of a bet. Not a bad way to win a bet.
This year my eyes were really drawn to Frankenstein items. Where my eyes went, my wallet was not far behind. Look at the three items I purchased.
One is wooden, the other two are fabric. You might be thinking, hey Kathy, why didn't you make those two items yourself.
I have several points I can offer in my defense. 1. They were quite inexpensive. 2. I love supporting local artisans. 3. I am lazy.
I think there is a certain amount of truth in each of those statements. But I decided I do want to sew something. I poked around online looking for some fabric.
If I am going to make an apron, I will need a lining fabric. I found this older print on Ebay. I also got a yard of it.
I have lots of various greens I could use for straps. Or do I want a table runner? Placemats?
I will have some scraps if I make an apron. Could I create a simple table runner using the scraps and some of my greens. But didn't I claim I wouldn't be sewing for a while with green?
There is one more possibility. I don't have this book club until October 15th. I could use a tried and true solution of mine.
I could buy some more Frankenstein fabric.

This post is about the only other Halloween table runner I have.
