Small design walls are also fabulous

I have written before about my design walls. Yes, that is plural, I have a large one for me and one for Zara. I thought she might not like having such a big one so I ordered her a small one via Massdrop. It arrived and I excitedly showed it to her. She politely said, "No thank you, I don't want a small one."

Wow, that surprised me. So I kept it for myself. I discovered that small design walls are also fabulous.

I set it up on my cutting table when I was fiddling around with fabric to make deconstructed blocks. What's that, you missed that post? We can't have that, go read it here.

It fit great at the edge. I put the original block there while I cut out fabrics and played with them. It was not laying down so I could see it really easily.

You can see the block in progress right here. I was able to move elements around on deconstructed blocks and see if I wanted to sew them up. This is one I didn't end up stitching as is, I kept playing with it.

Now that I look at it again, I wonder why I didn't stitch it up. Maybe I just like seeing my new cute design wall in use. Yes, I am a bit smitten!

Would I trade in my big design wall for a small one? No, I would not. But I am glad I have one, yes I am.

It gives me one more tool to use in my sewing studio. I also think it will be great to have next to my sewing machine when I am creating multiple identical blocks. It will keep me on track.

In addition, it is really easy to store and was easy to put together. I am glad now that Zara rejected it. I guess I am also lucky.

Maybe I need to order more things Zara won't like!

Sew happy!

I have written about design walls before. Here's when I bought one for Zara. And this is when I originally bought mine.
