Yes, I am writing again about this show but this time a different part of it. I enjoy looking back at pictures of quilts I have taken, it's very relaxing and inspires my own creativity. I didn't make a gallery, I just wanted you to have a similar experience I had. Take a look at the Quilt Alliance Quilts from Quilt Expo 2016.
The challenge was to make a quilt 16 by 16 deep within your own comfort zone. Quilters made small quilts which showed their favorite technique or subject matter. I've grouped them together, just as I saw them. (First prize is pretty cool!)
The very first quilt is by Margaret Cibulsky and she won first place for "My Garden."
Next to it is Nancy Brown's "Roo to Roo" the 1st place winner.
The yummy one is "More Slices" by Betsy Vinegrad.
The last one is by Maria Gonzalez Rico of Spain who garnered 3rd place for "Hypnotic love."
Judge's Choice was won by Amy Munson for her charming "American Foursquare."
Other judges choice was awarded to "Up, Up and Away" by Sheri Cifaldi-Morill and "Follow your Arrow" by Mary Kay Davis.
An honorable mention was awarded to Michelle Banton for Manhattan Mayhem.
The Honorable mentions continued with "Not So Plain Jane" by Pauline Salzman, one I really liked! You can visit the Quilt Alliance to see the names of the other quilts and quilters. Also, there is the complete gallery there.
I enjoyed seeing them as a whole and finding inspiration! I love the clouds in this grouping.
I've included the name tags and ribbons in the pictures for ones that really strike you.
Isn't that tree great? Or am I influenced because we have snow?
I divided the panels into horizontal groupings but the quilts were displayed in groups of 12. I tried to think what my favorite would be.
I imagine I would have done a house, I love those blocks. Maybe I will enter next year's contest?
The details will be announced here in January of 2017. Maybe we should all enter! Maybe you will win!
Then I can do a blog post all about you!
