This is blog post number 1000 for Quilting Sewing Creating.
One thousand times I have sat down at my computer and written a post. 615,521 people from 213 countries have visited my blog and racked up 1,076,829 pages views since September 23, 2012. Day by day, thought by thought and 4 years later I have published 1,000 posts. Let's discuss this number 1000.
In Latin this number is mille and as a result many English words pertaining to one thousand have a mille or mil in them. Think of those nasty bugs, millipedes. I am not sure they actually have 1,000 legs but it seems like they do.
We are living in the new millennium, yes? Remember all the hoopla when we flipped from 1999 to 2000? There were many fears about the approaching Y2K. So this is my 1k blog! Why k?
I am glad you asked but sad to report it is not for Kathy or Kathy's 1000th blog.
This is not the Roman numeral for 1,000 which is M. I would be remiss if I did not point out that K is my first initial and M is my second. Coincidence? Yes, I think so.
I have enjoyed reaching the kiloblog. I have tried to be funny, written about my life, written about teaching, sewing, books and my quilts. I've done tutorials and posted probably 3k pictures.
I have learned much more than I have taught writing these kiloblog. The wonderful readers who have posted have enriched my life more than I could have ever imagined.
I think this milestone deserves a celebration. How about if I buy some fabric, why I could purchase mille fleurs fabric. There may not be a thousand flowers in this example but I guess it depends on how many yards I buy.
I could also go out and buy myself a millefeuille pastry. I don't think there probably are a thousand sheets of pastry dough but I am not going to count. I will be too busy eating!
Before I celebrate I want to thank all of you who have read some of my 1k blogs. Special thanks to those who have commented on them and given me feedback. Extra special thanks to my husband, Cliff, who has read and commented on all thousand of them.
You would think that in thanks I would make him dinner consistently. But you would be wrong! Hey, I have to sew so I can have things for the second K of my blogs.
Plus restaurants are pretty darn great around here.
For a little more mille fun watch this parody video on Millenials. It's all in good fun!
If that tune sounds familiar, here's the original song.
Blog post 1000 makes me Sew happy!
