Visiting Prairie Stitches Quilt Shoppe

Yesterday I met a friend of mine, a good friend who used to be a colleague. When we worked together it was pretty easy to keep in touch. Now, we have to check schedules and make a point of meeting up. Even if we just have time for coffee, we always have a lot to say and it makes for a great day.

When we first walked in, I was very taken with the quilt on the bed. It had such great PUNCH. I do respond to solids!

The actual physical building is also quite a treat. It has cool little nooks and crannies where there is more merchandise. And I salivated over all their antiques!quilt store 4 re

The ladies who worked here were very personable and let us wander around to our heart's content. We chatted with them and swapped some funny stories. Like all the best quilt stores, they had a charming bathroom which also led to some cute anecdotes. Hey bathroom stories are the best!

I would say they lean much more traditional but their inventory included a nice collection of solids and some great modern samples. They were able to give me advice quilt store 5 reand my Pulse quilt and had even sent in one of their own.

I was very happy to find a grouping of Halloween fabrics. I am working on two tops, yes, the ones I started last fall, and I wanted a little something more purple in there. I found it!

A bonus is that they are part of the Northern Illinois Shop Hop. We got our passports and put our names in the prize drawing. Won't it be fun when we win?

I had never been able to put my hands on a copy of Quilt Mania magazine, so I bought one of those. My main find was multi colored hearts on white for the back of my Pulse quilt. I was thrilled!quilt store 1 re

Don't worry, we had enough time to go to lunch and continue the all day conversation. My body and my spirit were both nourished with the pleasant time we had. Plus, coffee for the drive home!

This quilter needs her caffeine!

Sew happy!
