Quilters Newsletter is closing - Say it ain't so!

When I took my very first quilt class in 1983 the teacher recommended that we all subscribe to Quilters Newsletter. Being a compliant and eager student, I did exactly that. 33 years later I am still getting my copies. You can imagine my dismay when I read this blog posted and learned that Quilters Newsletter is closing.

DSC06466 Say it ain't so! That magazine was a constant in my quilting life. And to end it when it is 3 years away from its 50th year seems even more sad and I am not even sure why.

I have probably subscribed to 15 or more quilt magazines in the past 3 decades. I try some for a while, then try others and see which ones continually interest. Never did I not renew Quilter's Newsletter.

I was a single Mom for 4 years and Quilters Newsletter was the only magazine I could afford. I was a solitary quilter then and this was my lifeline to other quilters. Of course, there is the internet now.

And maybe the internet is why this magazine is not going to continue. I don't know. I am not one of the contributors who got the insider email.

I was not one of the contributors to this magazine but it has always been my secret fantasy to have a column in a quilting magazine. I really wanted to be the new Helen Kelley with my own Loose Threads page in the magazine.

As we all know there are some dreams that don't come to fruition. And that's Okay as I have this fun blog and all of you. I am having sew much fun right here and now with all of you.

Bye Quilters Newsletter Magazine, thanks for all the good memories.

Sew happy!

I didn't have a column in Quilters Newsletter but I was mentioned in it. Click here.  Another time I almost made it into the magazine but alas, I was in the online version instead.
