Modern Green Nine Patch Quilt Update

Are you getting pretty excited about St. Patrick's day 2016? Me too! I want to give you a modern green nine patch quilt update. Now don't get too excited, it's not finished. But it's darn close!

green re 1When I posted last time, I had just finished the back. Did you miss that post? You can check it out here!

I started quilting at the light end and with light green thread. You can see that I made free motion 9 patches and free motion Shamrocks. And by free motion I mean not at all perfect, just more or less.

After two and a half rows of quilting with the lighter green thread, I redid the bobbin etc. and changed to a dark green thread. If you have a Longaram you know that changing the thread is not so easy.

It takes a fair amount of time and some Longarm quilters will charge you extra for two threads. I gave myself some extra cookies, seemed fair to me.

I did a bit of quilting here and a bit there and by golly, I got it all done. That last row is always pretty exciting. I have to take care not to go too quickly.

I loved having my machine all tuned up. No tension issues. I repeat, no tension issues! Bliss!

The same night I finished the quilting, I finished piecing the binding! Woot woot! Stop, there's more! I also ironed it and attached my continuous binding including the final diagonal seam. No ripping! I was on fire!

And now I am doing my favorite part of the quilt, attaching the binding by hand. You can see my handy clover clips keeping the binding safe and secure.

Last night I started sewing while I watched the hockey game which did not end until 1:15 am! Exciting and long game with a great ending. Know what else was wonderful about the game?

I got lots of binding sewn on!

Sew happy!
