I love going to quilt shows, big or small. I think there are fewer big shows and they can be expensive to attend. I had a grand time at Quiltcon but it also cost me a pretty penny. (Worth every cent!) There are many reasons why I love living near Chicago and one of them is that we get some big shows. (And great pizza.)
Last Thursday, I was able to attend the Chicago International Quilt Festival and it was a monumental success! I loved it. The first minute I stepped in was already fabulous. I walked in and a fellow quilter, someone I had never met before asked me, "Do you need a ticket to the Show?" I replied yes and she gave me a ticket, complimentary! She hadn't paid for it and passed on the good fortune because quilters are like that!
A few more steps and the Red and White Ruby Jubilee collection grabbed my brains, eyes and heart and I was captivated. I couldn't get enough of those quilts! I wanted to share that spectacular exhibit with you today. I put a taste in the gallery where I also discuss a few other exhibits. Coming up I will have posts on the Modern Friendship Star collection and a final post on other gorgeous quilts. It will be a fun week of wonderful quilts. Hooray!
