Book review and giveaway

I try every now and then to write amusing things here in my blog. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but what the heck, I keep trying! Apparently, I have at least one fan, Cheri Hage, who contacted me recently. Yay for fans! In addition to being a fan, she is also an author. She not only sent me a copy of her book, The ABCs of Sewing, but sent me one to use for a giveaway. Yes, my very first giveway, how exciting!

I do want to say that I normally just talk about things I make or like, it is the first time I have received a product for free. I thought it was very generous of her to send it to me but it didn't influence my review, just so you know! Here we go, my first Book review and giveaway!

bookI thought The ABCS of Sewing was pretty darn funny but I am sortof mad I didn't write it! Why did I like it? Because it reminds me of my own goofy sense of humor. She uses smart word play and gentle humor. There is nothing that will offend you. I understand that we may all say something salty but I prefer to write and read without those added words. The book is about 90 pages long with fun illustrations. It will make you chuckle because it's clever!

I like clever! Here is an example of one of the sewing terms.

Bias:

I'd rather quilt than do housework.

I'm just biased that way, I guess.

Admit it, that's clever. And I didn't see it coming. There are more just like that plus the real definitions in the back.

It's a fun little book and I plan to keep mine in my sewing room. Whenever I need to rip out a section, I will first open the book and read a couple of cute little pages. Fine, I will probably eat some chocolate also. I don't think Cheri would mind if I got some chocolate stains on my own copy.

Cheri hails from Goshen, Indiana which isn't all that far from the Chicago area where I live. If you would like to know more about her, she has a website you can look up here.  She also has a Etsy site. (She not only wrote a book but has her own Etsy site. Yep, she's making me look bad.)

I recommend this funny little book particularly as a present for a quilter. (Yes, feel free to forward this post to a significant other.) Or you can try and win The ABCs of Sewing from this post.

All you have to do is make a comment here on this blog post about humor, quilting, books or any other fun/nice thing you would like to say to me or Cheri. I had never done a giveway before so I would like to thank Paula of The Sassy Quilter who told me how to do it! I plan to use Random Number Generator to pick a comment, each one will have a number place. I will reply to each comment with your number. Last chance to comment and enter will be Friday, January 24th at 11:59 pm. I will announce the winner on my Facebook page. If you win, I will need your mailing address so I can send you the book.

I am a little nervous about this. I don't want anyone to get mad if they don't win! No hard feelings, OK?

 Good luck!

Sew happy!
