Invite extra guests to your Thanksgiving table

My Mother and Father both came from Alton, Illinois where they had large, extended families. They left all that to come live in Chicago and we had a small group for holidays. My Mom wanted a bigger crowd so she signed us up to host foreign students from U of C. A local church organized it and at the time it just seemed normal to me. Now I realize how terrific it was and how we gained much more than a few extra guests. We had the world around our table and we all grew from the experience.

I no longer live near the Church which organized these visits but I have always tried to keep the tradition going of having new people over for the holidays. I suggest that you do the same and if possible, invite extra guests to your Thanksgiving table.

Or maybe you could be a guest at mine, come on over. I made three napkins too many!

Sew happy!
