Sewing for Ernest Hemingway book club - A Farewell to Arms

Next Sunday is book club at my house. Three times a year we meet to discuss a classic book which we discuss on Facebook ahead of time. I started this Facebook Book club so that once rezbcand for all, I would read Anna Karenina and we have just kept going since then. We were even in the Chicago Tribune.

When we meet to discuss the book, we eat. Yep, two of my favorite things so far - books and food. Add in sewing and you have got quite the trio! We try to match the food with the book and then I try to match the sewing with the food. Our current selection is by Ernest Hemingway. th

He's an interesting author and I got on a Hemingway kick when I read The Paris Wife which led to visiting Oak Park for the museum and the home where he was born. I got the book club to agree to read A Farewell to Arms but I think so far, they like reading about dear Ernest more than reading books by him!a-farewell-to-arms
At any rate, the book is set in Italy so we are having an indoor Italian picnic. I am in the midst of doing the sewing and so far I have finished the apron. I had extra fabric so I made two, each have Italian foods on one side and tomatoes on the other! I like having an extra apron made just in case I want to give someone an unexpected treat.
Is that all the sewing? Surely you jest! This is just all I have done so far. I am working on a couple of table runners. In fact, I better go finish them up now, maybe read some more and you guessed it, have something to eat!

  • As always, you have a way of sewing the right items to fit the book you are reading.

  • Thanks, I can't wait until I am done with the table runners.
