This quilter is a grandmother

I am coming back to reality now after over a week in the land of bliss. What makes a quilter so happy? Becoming a Grandmother, that's what. Yes, Zara Kathleen was born on December 2 in the wee hours of the morning. At first we were visiting the new family in the hospital and then at home. My daughter's husband went back to work on Wednesday so I was hanging around, doing the Grandmother thing! Here is Zara when she was in the hospital.
Being a grandmother is just great, you hold, kiss and love the baby but you aren't up at night wondering how you will pay for college or if she'll ever sleep through the night. Had I known it was this great, I might have skipped the kid part and gone straight for the grandchildren. It was also such a great moment to have my 90 year old father meet his great granddaughter. Here he is with Zara and Emily.
I don't have much sewing to show, I made her a stocking but I don't like the way it looks with the other stockings I had already made. So, I will make another one and post it later. The ones I made Emily for her shower were a darker red and green, I don't have any fabrics like that left. You know what that means, time to buy more fabric! Here are the ones I made for the parents, the new one was too bright. I gave it to her so she has one but I will make a new one this week.
Sometimes it is frustrating to not get it right the first time so I may do another project before I tackle Zara's stocking 2.0. It is Christmas time, the classes I teach end Thursday and I am a Grandmother. Life is GREAT and full of sewing projects!

Sew happy!

  • The stocking looked great, but I get it. Any reason to buy more fabric. You can never have enough fabric.

Sometimes I don't even need excuses!
