Hugo de Groot under lock and key

In the cover of  a book chest*

Did  literally  flee.*

* During a period of religious strife, Grotius was controversially sentenced to life imprisonment and transferred to Loevestein Castle. With help of his wife and his maidservant, he was able to escape in a book chest and fled to Paris.
