Pope Francis rebukes climate change skeptics

popefrancis-inline

"A very solid scientific consensus indicates that we are presently witnessing a disturbing warming of the climatic system. In recent decades this warming has been accompanied by a constant rise in the sea level and, it would appear, by an increase of extreme weather events, even if a scientifically determinable cause cannot be assigned to each particular phenomenon. Humanity is called to recognise the need for changes of lifestyle, production and consumption, in order to combat this warming or at least the human causes which produce or aggravate it."  [Pope Francis, from 'Laudato Si']

To deny that the climate is changing, says Francis,

Is like risking on one roll of dice your finances.

In 'Laudato Si'

He's as clear as can be

That the temperature of the blue planet advances.

  • Well put, but I feel a bit skeptical of his authority here. (That comes naturally to me as a Presbyterian!) Is he saying "listen to me" or "listen to the scientists" about the climate?

  • In reply to Margaret H. Laing:

He's listening to the scientists (clearly from the quoted excerpt), so unless you have a hearsay objection, counselor.....

  • "To deny that the climate is changing, says Francis,"
Means that you are following the false preacher Dennis.

  • Than you AW for this great post! He is truly a man of conscience and compassion. May I share his prayer for the earth with you?

  • Thank you, again, AW. I'm sorry, that link doesn't seem to be working. I will try again.

  • Maybe this will work--
