Jake Arrieta's no-hitter a thing of beauty

Jake Arrieta

His sweet command, his mastery,

The coup de grace the final three:

The L.A. Dodgers didn't get a

Single hit 'gainst Arrieta!

"A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing."

                                 John Keats

  • I wonder if Keats contemplated the fascination over the Corpse Plant, including that it wouldn't open or stink on its own volition.

Also, I don't think that the poetic license was necessary in line 3 of your verse.

    Objection sustained.

  • Great stuff, AW! As Pat Hughes said, "This never gets old."

I think Spike deserves a poem, too...

  • In reply to Weather Girl:

Thanks, WG. Arrieta may be the best in the game. Imagine how the Orioles feel.

I'm working on the Spike idea. Spike is such a perfect name.

I'll check out that site. It does sound interesting. Many thanks.
