J.M. Barrie: Maven of Make-Believe

Born today was J.M. Barrie*
Created Tinker Bell, the fairy,
The faithful friend of Peter Pan
Who wouldn't grow into a man.

*In his own words:

1. "If growing up means it would be beneath my dignity to climb a tree, I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!"

2. "Shall we make a new  rule of life from tonight: always try to be a little kinder than is necessary."

3. "Nothing is really work unless you would rather be doing something else."

4. "Time is chasing after all of us."

5. "All of this has happened before, and it will all happen again."

6. "I am not young enough to know everything."

  • Wouldn't have Barrie today, as several aspects (as reflected in lines 2 and 3 of your verse) would not be politically correct today, especially since Peter Pan was played by Mary Martin and Sandy Duncan.

OT: I cited the comments to yesterday's post here in the CTA Tattler for the purpose of establishing that I do not worship at the altar of the Church of Sts. Frank [Kreusi] and Forrest [Claypool].

  • In reply to jack:

Way to go, Jack. Distrust of bureaucrats is in my DNA too.

  • In reply to Aquinas wired:

4zen can tell you that wasn't the direction I was going with my OT post, but your point applies too.
