The Power of Prayer: Or Is This the Republican Health Care Plan?

(According to the blog "Being Catholic...Really", St. Roch is the patron saint of dogs and knee problems.)

If you can't endure the  pain
Of arthritis in your knee,
And you're tired of analgesics
And of boring therapy.

Why not try this  alternative
To a visit to the doc.
You only need a little faith
And a prayer to St. Roch.

You can skip the   acupuncture
And the standard surgeries.
All it takes is silent  prayer
To the patron saint of knees.

But there is a real  hang-up,
As with earthly remedies,
St. Roch may be in heaven,
But he gives no guarantees.

  • Not clear if he was from Rochester, Minn, N.Y., Ind., or Mich. The first would have more healing powers.

And since he only works on knees, that reminds me of this one:

"How is Calumet City similar to arthritis?"
    "The joints have closed up."

Also, St. Roch might have done something for Derrick Rose's knees, but apparently not yet for his "mental readiness."

  • In reply to jack:

Jack, you're on a Roch and roll.

  • In reply to Aquinas wired:

Or maybe St. Roch was prescribing a Roach.

  • laugh it up Aquinas, but when the youth figure out how they've been enslaved to your debt and pension, they're going to make you into Soylent Green fajitas.
