Gun Sales Soar After Massacre. Colorado, Why Don't You Get the Message?

null

Gun sales in Colorado have spiked in the wake of  the horrific murder spree in  a  Aurora cinema.  By 43% in some estimates.  This is like pouring gasoline on a raging inferno.  What Reagan said about government is deadly accurate about guns.  Guns aren't the solution. They're the problem.

James Holmes was able to haul  an arsenal of deadly weapons in his car---in open sight---without violating Colorado law. No permit was necessary. He didn't have to register his guns. Since the Republicans let the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 (the Brady Law) expire in 2004 and have handcuffed any attempt to renew it, there are no federal restrictions on AR-15's and similar semi-automatic weapons.

Since 2003, Colorado has had a statute that makes it unlawful for a local government or law enforcement entity to "enact an ordinance, regulation, or other law that prohibits the sale, purchase, or possession of a firearm that a person may legally sell, purchase, or possess under state or federal law."   No wonder Holmes was armed to the teeth.

To add to the lunacy, Colorado law does not proscribe anyone from bringing in guns from other states.

If there were  a recipe for creating a mass murder scenario ,  incontrovertibly, this would  be it.

Colorado, isn't it time  to wake up and join the civilized world?

Sir, while I wont make a comment about whether guns are good or bad, as that would be pointless. However, I do suggest that you should get at least the BIG points correct. Do you realize that the AR-15 is NOT an automatic weapon and the automatic weapons are NOT available to the general public? There are SIGNIFICANT restrictions on automatic weapons. A person has to have very specific licenses and jump through many hoops to apply to purchase an automatic weapon. Also, do you know what "paraphrase" means? Paraphrase means to state a thought or saying using different words. Completely changeing the entire point of what someone said and meant is not Paraphrasing.

  • In reply to Rob Bampton:

Thanks Rob for your comment. "Automatic" should be of course "semi-automatic".

"Paraphrase" is indeed not the right word. I've recast the sentence. Thanks again.
