Oysters in the Past and Present: A View

Note: A crotchet in verse inspired by "Chicago's 1st Food Trend: Oysters" by blogger Chicago Quirk.

In Chicago's 1840s,
Historians so tell,
Oysters made their debut
At the Lake House Hotel.

This was the swanky "In" spot
Where the affluent would blend,
Where they ate so many oysters
It became our first food trend.

But if I were dining those days,
No matter what the glam,
I'm certain that  on oysters
I wouldn't spend a clam.
