Hawks Win!

Hawks Win!

The Hawks broke their little losing streak tonight against the Blue Jackets, as Stalberg netted a hat-trick and his 7th goal against Columbus in only 4 games this year. I will get back to you in the morning with a wrap on the game, but you can pretty much cut-and-paste any of the other wraps on a Hawks-Jackets game from the year here to get a good idea for how it went. The Hawks have beaten the Jackets by 3 goals every time and Stalberg is always the one scoring those goals. Columbus tallies a decent amount of shots, but the Hawks seem to play better defense on them as a whole.

Still some issues in front of their own net for the Hawks, but a better effort defensively all around. There was a little more help from the forwards, but they are still tending to stay too high in the zone which is making breakouts tricky. The PK was pretty darn big tonight. In the end, goals are always a plenty against Columbus, so there you go. Hawks 5, Jackets 2. More in the morning.

  • Well, I tacked on a comment to the end of the last post and I was much more satisfied with the result tonight. I see the team finishing checks and most importantly, I see players standing up for each other. Mayers and Montador both danced with Boll tonight and they did it without hesitation, this needs to continue. The instigator penalty sucks, but the Hawks have got to keep up with doing what they are doing.

Montador, for now, looks to be fitting in a little better. When he and O'Donnell are on the ice together, they clear the crease. Leddy, I thought, got caught on both goals being the only defender in front of two opposing players. In both cases, I believe Leddy had his man boxed out and still got stung from the other forward and Keith was there both times I believe.

Still, happy to get this win right before leaving for Mexico!
