My Trials and Tribulations of Q

My Trials and Tribulations of Q
Peeking my head out of the mountainous pile of educational work that is my life these days, I bring to you a post with ponderings of the Blackhawks and coach Q as of late. How much have I missed? Well, we saw the Hawks drop some games, then win some important games, and then drop... Read more »

We have seen better from the Blackhawks.

We have seen better from the Blackhawks.
Not having internet at home is harder on my life than it should be. Especially when you don’t have cable TV. Thankfully, I own a cafe and one of the few rewards of that is having access to said internet and the world. I mentioned in the last post that the Hawks weren’t looking so... Read more »

Don't Call it a Slump, but the Blackhawks have dropped 3 points in their last 5 games.

Don't Call it a Slump, but the Blackhawks have dropped 3 points in their last 5 games.
The Hawks lost a point to the Blues, after allowing them to come back from a 2 goal deficit twice. That game displayed some sloppy hockey from the Hawks. Thanks to Raanta’s rebound, and his shutout against the Kings, the Hawks won a 1-0 game that didn’t exactly present the best Hawks hockey, but it... Read more »

The 2014 Team America for Hockey.
For a good read on the selection process and the list of players who filled out the roster in the end, check this link out: USA Hockey Story. Most importantly to us and most shocking is that our very own Saader did not make the Olympic team, despite being a heavy favorite from the panel... Read more »

Raanta Redeemed.

Raanta Redeemed.
Thanks to a wonderful and determined goal by Saader, the Hawks proved that they can win tight defensive games, and that Antti Raanta¬†can provide the shutout necessary to do so. Now, the Kings are not exactly a powerhouse of scoring, but Raanta made more than a few big time saves, including a doubler from Dustin... Read more »

Taking the Good with the Bad.

Taking the Good with the Bad.
The picture was either going to be this one, of Patrick Sharp scoring a goal, because he did that a lot this weekend, or of Raanta letting in a goal, because he did a lot of that last night. Since I didn’t post after the big win, I find myself in an interesting position of... Read more »

Recapping and Bigger Questions.

Recapping and Bigger Questions.
It has been a while since our last post here at PowWow. 5 games to be exact, of which there was an OT loss to the Nucks, a 7-3 loss to Toronto, and 3 strong textbook wins. Reasons for not getting time to talk about the Hawks include the pre-winterbreak rush at school and the... Read more »

Hawks win 7-2, Ray Emery prevented from physically beating Raanta

Well, that was a good old fashioned ass whippin. After going down 1-0 in the first and getting outhit and outshot, the Hawks came back in the second period, scored 5 goals and put the game out of reach for the Flyers. Thankfully, Emery finally got pulled before he could start a fight with someone... Read more »

Blackhawks Dominate in Dallas.

Blackhawks Dominate in Dallas.
A 6-2 win that could have looked more like an 8-0 win if Raanta wasn’t guilty of 1 softy per game, the officials made the right call before the Stars last goal, and if Bollig could hit an empty net. Yep, it was that kind of a domination by the Hawks. More important than purely... Read more »

Winning and Injuries.

Winning and Injuries.
The Blackhawks won decisively last night, and not to take anything away from the solid win, but it isn’t like Florida is a good match for the Hawks. The Hawks played well as was expected, and ended their little drought with a big win. It didn’t help the Panthers that they played the night before... Read more »
