Republican Senator Mark Kirk, has joined the flip floppers on the GOP's side and come out of the closet... about gay marriage. Via a short, two paragraph statement, Senator Kirk has come out in favor of gay marriage.
Now, the media have decided this is an example of a Republican "evolving" on the issue and you should note that rhetoric. "Evolving" is usually presented as a good thing, an advancement in something (as in biological evolution). What this rhetoric assumes is that anyone that suddenly flip flops on gay marriage and accepts it means they are now one of the good guys.
In other words, if you are for the protection of proper, traditional marriage, you are an evil, black hearted, hateful, bigot. You are a disgusting hater, do you hear, America? If you are religious, the media thinks you are evil.
Anyway, here is Kirk's statement:
When I climbed the Capitol steps in January, I promised myself that I would return to the Senate with an open mind and greater respect for others.
Same-sex couples should have the right to civil marriage. Our time on this earth is limited, I know that better than most. Life comes down to who you love and who loves you back– government has no place in the middle.
For a perfect example of the way the extreme left demonizes supporters of God's institution of marriage, see my piece about CNN's so-called comedian Dean Obeidallah and his demonization of those that disagree with him.
You will also see there a logical argument from Dennis Prager why gay marriage and inter-racial marriage is not in any way at all comparable.
