I’m Congressman Peter Roskam, welcome back to Ask Peter.

There’s been a lot of talk about taxes recently. The Supreme Court has ruled that the new health care law is a tax, a big tax on the middle class.

President Obama is saying he wants to raise taxes. He is insisting that taxes be raised on job creators of all people, and it makes absolutely no sense.

Look, two years ago President Obama actually had it right when he said, “You don’t raise taxes during a recession.” That’s for sure.

And now we’ve got these economic numbers that aren’t helpful at all. We’ve had unemployment above 8% for the past 41 months. That’s just a staggering lag in job growth and in production.

So what do we do about it?

The first thing is, we don’t raise taxes on anybody. We repeal the 21 taxes that are in Obamacare, and we get focused in again about making sure that we are doing the things that allow our economy to thrive, and to grow, and to recover.

I’m Congressman Peter Roskam. I need to hear from you by Facebook, email, Twitter, or any kind of old fashioned postcard or letter.

Thanks for watching.
