From the office of Rep. Joe Walsh (R, Illinois 8th District)…
We need to work together to cut taxes, reduce regulations, and tackle Washington’s culture of reckless spending
WASHINGTON – Congressman Joe Walsh (IL-8) released the following statement in response to reports that the gross domestic product (GDP) expanded at a 2.2 percent annual rate during the first quarter.
Walsh stated: “The poor numbers released today reinforce what I have been saying all along—Washington needs to get serious about economic growth. Cheap political gimmicks, like the Buffett Tax, are not the solutions to our economic problems. As Chairman of the Small Business Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax, and Capital Access, I know that small businesses are the key to America’s economic recovery, and Washington needs to stop holding them back.
“Republicans and Democrats need to join hands and tackle the real problems that are holding back economic growth and American entrepreneurship. We need to work together to cut taxes, reduce regulations, and tackle Washington’s culture of reckless spending. That is the only road to sustained economic growth and a promising future for our kids and grandkids.”
