From the campaign of John Bambenek for State Senate (52nd District)…
Illinois is facing serious problems and each day we see more proof our policies are taking us in the wrong direction. Just yesterday, Sears announced its closing 100-120 stores and potentially laying off thousands of workers. And this is on the heals of getting a major tax package from Springfield. We're approving tax deals for companies who then lay off workers and it isn't the first time.
Just last year, the state gave Groupon millions of dollars and just recently they were named one of the worst run companies in America. We raise taxes and fees, impose burdensome regulatory requirements and then we hand taxpayer money... your money... to companies here and there while the bulk of businesses continue to buckle under Illinois policies.
That's why I decided to run for the state senate. I have a successful career in information security and running my consulting business here in Champaign. I ran because I cannot stand by and watch the decline of my state and see opportunities leave Illinois, opportunities that will be lost to my children.
The incumbent I'm facing was the deciding 30th vote to hike income taxes 67% earlier this year. My primary opponent has hiked sales and property taxes. I believe the choice between hiking income taxes and hiking sales and property taxes is simply a choice by which way the status quo is maintained. I am the only candidate running in this senate race who will cut spending, reform the budget and cut taxes. I will fight to bring jobs back to this state and this district.
An important deadline is approaching as our campaign finance deadline for the year is this Saturday at midnight. Help us show Springfield that we want to return to fiscal sanity and want businesses to return. Send a message by donating to the campaign, $100, $50 and even $25 helps us with critical campaign expenses. You can donate online here: http://tinyurl.com/JohnFor52
Thank you again for your support of my campaign for the State Senate. Hope you had a great holiday and best wishes for a joyous New Year!
