Vincent Romano (www.RomanoForRep.com) is now officially on the ballot in the 16th District!
Vince will challenge long time incumbent Lou Lang, for State Representative. Vince easily garnered over 3 times the required amount of signatures, after being encouraged by both Democrats and Republicans to run.
Vince wants voters to have a fresh candidate choice. His run will give the 16th District a chance to elect someone who is truly pro-economy, pro-jobs, and focused on fixing the staggering Illinois debt problem for once and for all.
Said Vince, “The leadership of this State has driven our economy into the ground. It has run up the most debt. It has created a hostile business climate that not only keeps new businesses away, but causes even some of our greatest corporations to consider leaving (CME Group, CAT, Sears etc.). As we lose businesses, and scare away others from even coming, Taxpayers will get stuck picking up ever more of the tax burden, even as Illinois sinks in a sea of red ink.”
“One of the things I say when talking with people that hits home, is that even if their children or grandchildren get great educations, if they are unable to find jobs or career opportunities here, they will likely to have to leave Illinois to find work. I hate to see families fractured because of the sour economic conditions we have festering here.
“This isn’t about red or blue, Democrat or Republican. This is about peoples’ hopes and dreams, homes and lives. We must look at healing Illinois now, if our children are to have futures later. My job as a financial advisor is to help people maintain lifestyles into and throughout their retirement years. I see that Illinois cannot maintain its lifestyle, when the State cannot maintain its lifestyle and control its spending….then the citizens cannot when they are hit with higher taxes and fees.”
“Illinois has tremendous fundamental strengths: access to the Atlantic from the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway, access to the Gulf of Mexico, TWO international airports, rail & trucking hubs like no other, a huge agricultural base and a world class metropolitan area…….all the makings for a great country, let alone a great State! So why are we bankrupt? Why are we in this position with all these assets? Leadership is the major reason… Lang is number 2 in the House. He is the Deputy Majority Leader and has been in office for a quarter century.”
When asked how he could win against Representative Lang, Romano said, “We cannot beat him with just money. He has the Machine, plus special interest groups, casinos and the like backing him…..we will have to beat him with people. People who have had enough and want to make this State great again!”
This will be the battle of David and Goliath in the Illinois 2012 election; Vincent Romano running a grass roots effort against the Machine of Illinois.
