I'm just curious what liberties this President has taken away? What freedoms? Besides that to live under a White President. Sarah Palin is so devoid credibility, that by promoting her, it further calls into question yours. ANY GROUP...Republicans...the Tea Party...Fox..that would have her as a member, is unworthy of the membership of any sane, reasonable, serious, reality centered, fact concerned, patriotic (bullshit loaded word) American.

You and I can disagree on the means to the end... the path to collective prosperity, to collective happiness and well-being, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume we have a similar ideal end.

I can live with the means difference. But for the life of me, I cannot understand how on earth... you can on a daily basis, chastise the President, while at the same time, discuss Sarah Palin, in such a respectful manner? I don't agreee with Karl Rove on much, but I respect that he's recently called her out on her hypocritical bullshit. She wants to hang out in the ktichen, make all the money she can in the kitchen, and then cry "elitism!" "lame stream media" etc. when the heat gets turned up in the kitchen.

The greatest trick Sarah Palin ever played, was making you, and people like you, think something is there...think substance is there...think she's worthy of your attention.

This isn't me being an elitist...or sexist...or even a liberal. This is me being averse to ignorance...to bullshit...to the Kim Kardashian of politics.

  • In reply to koolking83:

Actually, it is you being a liberal. It is also you being an elitist. It is also you being quite a jerk to assume everyone that disagrees with you is a racist.

President Obama is assumed to be the smartest man in human history by "you and people like you." But he is the single worst president this great nation has ever had so what does that mean for your assumption that we need people in office that exhibit what you claim is "smart"? With al his "smart" Obama is destroying this country.... and THAT is his goal.

But, in the end, you don't know anything about what I support or don't support. "You and people like you" just assume you know. Have you seen me promote Palin's suitability for the presidency? Nope. But "you and people like you" simply assume. The truth is I hope she does not run. Have you ever seen me write about race as a motivation for my interests? Nope, but "you and people like you" accuse me all the time of being a racist.

Furthermore, the fact that you call patriotism "bullshit" pretty much describes every last inch of what "you and people like you" are. Anti-American to the core. You hate America, its history, its traditions, its ideas and its principles.

I really am pretty sick of "you and people like you" assuming that everyone that disagrees with you is stupid.

By the way, this is not "my" posting. Like many of the posts I make it is a press release, this one from the Chicago Tea Party. I post many press releases of local GOP related groups so that they can get their info out there.

But now, because of you, I've decided to go on this bus trip. I have to see in person why "you and people like you" hate this woman so much.

  • A few things.
First-I never stated or implied you are a racist. I have no reason to believe that. Nor do I by definition believe Sarah Palin is a racist. On the other hand, I do believe she attempts to pander to racists...she make innuendos, employs euphemisms, etc.

Secondly, I explicitly stated "You and I can disagree on the means to the end... the path to collective prosperity, to collective happiness and well-being, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume we have a similar ideal end. " I don't doubt your intelligence-nor did I suggest that a difference of opinion implies a difference in morals/values etc. I said we disagree on the means...but in a broad sense, not the ideal end.

Thirdly-(i love lists), the word patriotism is chronically abused, overused and misused. What makes one a patriot? A flagpin? Sanctifying our founding fathers? Overtly despising all that is not American? Or how about divisive rhetoric-"Real America" as opposed to big city elitist America? Is that patriotic?

Lastly-"But he is the single worst president this great nation has ever had so what does that mean for your assumption that we need people in office that exhibit what you claim is "smart"? With all his "smart" Obama is destroying this country.... and THAT is his goal." Really WTH? Hyperbolic would be too kind a word for those statements-in particular, "THAT is his goal". Pretty sad.

  • Your first claim in your second reply is simply untrue. You called everyone that doesn't support Obama and your ideals a racist when you said this: "I'm just curious what liberties this President has taken away? What freedoms? Besides that to live under a White President."

And you talk about " innuendos" and employing "euphemisms," well what does it mean when you say "you and people like you"? THAT is as clear as a bell that you meant that I am "people like me" are racists. It is precisely what you meant and you know it.

As to your curiosity of "what makes a patriot," you are infected with a modern sense of nihilism or failed act of equating everything to everything else as if they are equal in value. That is what lies at the root of your inability to understand what patriotism means.

Finally, as to what is Obama's goal, he's told us often what it is. He wants energy to be extremely expensive. He wants business to be laid low. He disdains capitalism. He feels the USA should apologize for itself and is an evil influence on the world. Obama is the most anti-capitalist, anti-American we've ever had as president.

  • Oh to your commment "You hate America, its history, its traditions, its ideas and its principles"

I "hate" that which in our history deserves to be hated. I hate when we ignore, or even worse, praise aspects of our history which are worthy of anything but. I hate when we as a Country do not learn from our mistakes, when we are complacent and at times gleeful in our ignorance. I love America, but I do blindly sanctify our founding fathers, or forget the host of shameful errors we have collectively made in our Country's history. You may choose to forget those things...but for others it's a bit harder.

And one last thing-our exceptionalism does not come from the divine-it comes from our people. God didn't sign off on slavery, or mass executions, or systematic discrimination, or unjustified wars.

As always I aim for progress..for myself, for my community, for my City, for my State.... and for the Country that I love.

  • I've missed these exchanges between koolking83 and The 'Stache.

I'll sleep easy tonight, thanks boys.

  • Sarah: Please look out and don't step in cow patches.

This advice will become all the more important when you stick your foot in your mouth.
