Tonight's City of Chicago edition of "Public Affairs, "featuring Charles Love, 560 AM Radio's co-host of "Black and Right," being interviewed by Illinois Channel's and Public Affairs' Jeff Berkowitz, airs at 8:30 pm and Midnight on Cable Ch. 21 (CAN TV) through-out Chicago proper.
Take a break from Monday night football and watch "How to fix Chicago," which for the last 64 years was "fixed" in a different way for 52 of those years under the supervision of the three Daleys: Richard J., Richard M. and honorary Daley-Rahm Emanuel.
The three Daleys often "Fixed government," so it worked against the people. Can Mayor Lightfoot fix government in the right way?
The program featuring Charles Love also airs tonight in Aurora and Tuesday night in the Chicago Metro N and NW suburbs and 24/7 on youtube (See below for more details)..
560 AM Radio's Charles Love: ...Real simple, Lori [Lightfoot] is right, Chief Judge Evans is wrong...Preckwinkle and Evans would say, the guy [arrested for possessing a military style weapon without a FOID card], hasn't been convicted of a crime yet, so you have to let him out of jail until he has his day in court...but this is a bigger problem, so we look up to people like Judge Evans because he has a law degree and a layman like me didn't go to law school, but I have common sense: So I would say this to Judge Evans: Okay because he hasn't been convicted yet, [you would say we should not hold him in jail] until he has gone to court...
560 AM Radio's Charles Love (cont): and my response to that is when people get arrested for rape, embezzlement, murder, serial killer... [Judge Evans and President Preckwinkle's would say ] unless we caught the accused in the act, we would let him or her back on the street But nobody would say that...No, you have to hold [dangerous] people [in jail] based on what they were doing...
Jeff Berkowitz: Ok, we have solved that problem. You have persuaded Chief Circuit Court of Cook County Judge Evans, you have persuaded Cook County Board President Preckwinkle, and in a week or two, people with this situation (arrested for possessing an AK-47 illegally) and with a prior illegal gun possession conviction, they are not going to be bonded out. OK, what else can you do? Strategic policing? What does that mean?
Charles Love: Well, people talk about--- whether it is the "Broken windows of New York," [fighting crime theory] or Stop and Frisk, or some combination there of...
