Garry McCarthy: This is once again Chicago politics in action and you know what’s happening Jeff, people are getting killed, it’s very, very serious. This is not a game...[OMG, politics in City Hall, who would have thunk it:)]
Garry McCarthy: Who is the police policy expert who participated in producing the draft Consent degree [involving the City, CPD and the IL Attorney General]? Because, I don’t know...[Who knows? Vallas? Lightfoot? McCarthy? Ald. Burke? Zorn? points for speed!]
Tonight’s Chicago Metro edition of Public Affairs features Garry McCarthy, former Chicago Police Chief and candidate for Mayor in the City of Chicago, being interviewed by show host Berkowitz about McCarthy's core approach to dealing with homicides and shootings; education, including performance of traditional neighborhood CPS schools (30% of minority kids reading at grade level); and the City’s financial and budget issues (including the City's overspending and pension crisis).
The program also airs tonight in 24 Chicago Metro North and Northwest suburbs at 8:30 pm on:
on Cable Ch. 19 in Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, parts of Inverness, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove, Niles, Northfield, Palatine, Rolling Meadows and Wilmette and
on Cable Ch. 35 in Arlington Heights, Bartlett, Glenview, Golf, Des Plaines, Hanover Park, Mt. Prospect, Northbrook, Park Ridge, Prospect Heights, Schaumburg, Skokie, Streamwood and Wheeling.
Garry McCarthy: This is once again Chicago politics in action and you know what’s happening Jeff, people are getting killed, it’s very, very serious. This is not a game. Over the last three years, since my termination, there’s been more than 400 more murders in the City than there were in the previous three years with me as the Chicago Police Superintendent. That’s a direct result of the political landscape and political actions that have been taken here. It’s not okay.
McCarthy: I don’t know if I was held accountable because I don’t know why I was fired [as Chicago police chief in 2015].
Who is the police policy expert who participated in producing the draft Consent degree [involving the City, CPD and the IL Attorney General]? Because, I don’t know...
