Watch 90 seconds by clicking Jeanne pic,
below, on Rauner's lie that Jeanne
Ives wants to keep the 32% Dem income
tax increase.

Gov. Rauner's collosal lying has included numerous lies in Rauner's mailers and TV ads (costing tens of millions of dollars)  about Jeanne Ives' positions on income taxes and property taxes, a Rauner fabricated political association between Speaker Madigan and Ives and Rauner's most shameful and sinful lie-  a promise given to Cardinal Cupich that Rauner would not sign into law taxpayer funding of elective abortions, a promise which Rauner broke, seemingly without batting an eye.

This level of lying by Rauner seems to be a first, even for Illinois politics. Indeed, this may be Rauner's only accomplishment as Governor- A liar in a League of his Own.  As other journalists have said, this is neither an endorsement of Jeanne, nor a no vote for Rauner.  Maybe IL wants a premier liar for Governor. We discuss, you decide.

  • Berkowitz, confirming himself again as the ineffective voice of the alt right. "As other journalists have said, this is neither an endorsement of Jeanne, nor a no vote for Rauner." As Mike Ditka once said to Terry Boers "Who ya crappin?"

  • In reply to district299reader:

Thank you for your comments. But, I don't endorse. I don't support any candidate, Republican or Democrat. Real journalists don't do that. Which means FNC and MSNBC have few real journalists.

However, when a political candidate just makes stuff up, pure and simple, he or she should be called out for lying. That's what I did.

And if Gov. Rauner wants to come on my show and argue he didn't lie, I would be happy to debate the issue. Or, have him debate with Ives. But, he declined both. And, he refused all debates with Ives. Anywhere, anytime.

Moreover, fom what I know of Ditka, I don't think he would be thrilled to learn you are using his name to defend Rauner's lies.

Finally, you think Ditka would be upset with me for what I wrote? You don't know Ditka. Or as Ditka might say to you: "Who ya crappin?"

  • In reply to Jeff Berkowitz:

"Real journalists don't do that. Which means FNC and MSNBC have few real journalists. "

Your just envious that with all the vacancies at FNC, you are reduced to a blog promoting a public access show. That doesn't make you a "real journalist," just like Breitbart News is not real news.At least The National Enquirer can get someone to pay at the checkout counter.

And how do you expect Rauner to accede to your demands, when you took sole credit for what turned out to be Biss sponsored "[Rauner] supports the Republican Candidate [Trump]" ads last year?

"Moreover, fom [sic] what I know of Ditka, I don't think he would be thrilled to learn you are using his name to defend Rauner's lies." You are messed up. The reference was directly to your claim to be a "journalist" who "doesn't make endorsements." As I indicated, one using a blog to promote a cable access show. Who are YOU {Berkowitz} crappin?

  • In reply to district299reader:

Thank you for your comments. I never sought a job at MSNBC or FNC, nor would I accept one if offered. I am happy with what I do. I interviewed Chris Matthews and he assessed the interview as intense, but good. Same with Peggy Noonan. Same with my six interviews with Obama.

You are the first person who has told me that compensation is the main way we should assess the quality of a journalist's performance.

If I do such a poor job, you might explain for my readers, viewers and me why Barack Obama would come back five times, why Judge Posner would do two shows or why over two decades-- 900 guests would appear, including such diverse personalities as Cong. Crane, Cong. Jackson, U. S. Attorneys Lassar and Burns, author Heather Mac Donald, AG candidates Fairley, Goldstein and Moriotti and indeed, last week, Jeanne Ives.

If you are involved in education, you might want to make more coherent and logical arguments than "You are messed up."

Also, if you were to study economics some, you would learn that we can't make interpersonal utility comparisons and thus we can't logically make the kind of inferences you sought to make.

Finally, I will continue to stand on my primary point with respect to our conversation-- just because I characterized Rauner as a major league liar for the last few months, that doesn't mean I endorsed his opponent. I didn't and don't for the reasons stated.

If you want to address that point, it would be useful if you would stick to the facts and logic of my argument, as opposed to ad hominem attacks-- which are frowned upon by most educated people.
