A warrant for the arrest of Carly Rousso was issued this morning and her attorney, Doug Zeit told the prosecutors he would surrender his client, Ms. Rousso, which he did prior to a bond hearing held in Lake County Bond Court around 11:00 am this morning in bond court in Lake County before Judge Collins.
The criminal information, filed to support the arrest warrant, contained five felony counts:
Counts 1-2, aggravated driving under the influence of an intoxicating compound, a class 2 felony, with a punishment in prison from 3 to 14 years.
Count 3, Reckless Homicide, a class 3 felony
Count 4-5, aggravated driving under the influence. a class 4 felony
All of these counts relate to actions allegedly taken by 18 year old Carly Rousso on Labor Day, Sep. 3, that allegedly resulted in the death of 5 year old Jaclyn Santos Sacramento, as discussed in more detail here and here.
The defendant, Carly Rousso, appeared in court with her parents this morning. The judge increased the bail from $50,000 to $500,000, meaning Carly’s parents had to come up with an additional $45,000 in cash or a cashier’s check, to obtain the release of their daughter from the Lake County Jail. It is thought, but not known for sure, that Carly Rousso has not been released from jail, as of the time of this posting.
