Is the Illinois Policy Institute (liberty and free market based), reinvigorated in the last few years under the leadership of its CEO, John Tillman, now one of the two most influential public policy think tanks in Illinois? The answer has to be "Yes, it is." Major events hosted by the Illinois Policy Institute in the last two weeks in Chicago featured Juan Williams (on School Choice) and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) (on improving quality of State Government services while lowering costs to the taxpayer). The other major public policy think tank in Illinois? Why, the Heartland Institute, of course, led from its inception by Joe Bast (libertarian and free market based). The Heartland Institute hosted an event last Sunday featuring John Stossel, well known Fox News Channel libertarian personality John Stossel (Previously long time ABC News- features host).
These two organizations, Heartland and the Illinois Policy Institute, now march shoulder to shoulder, argument to argument, idea to idea, supporting the application of free market principles, in the Chicago School of Economics long, historical tradition, to every nook and cranny in the City of Chicago, the County of Cook, the State of Illinois, the country of the United States of America and indeed, the entire World, as we know it. Their motto, clear and simple, "Long Live free markets, liberty and freedom."
And, here just a few of the questions you can see CEO Tillman answer today on the Illinois Channel, in the program that has been airing across the State of Illinois this past week:
Is President Obama responsible in large part or no part for gasoline costing $4.50 gallon?
Is President Obama hypocritical for sending his kids to private school (30K/kid) and rejecting school vouchers-school choice for DC kids ($7500/kid) ? Or, does President Obama's support of Charter Schools, starting with endorsement of same on "Public Affairs" in July, 2003 (or perhaps on "Public Affairs" in July, 2000), when Obama was licking his wounds from his March, 2000 "spanking" by Cong. Bobby Rush (Chicago, 1st CD) reflect his courage in taking on the teachers union when he knew he needed their support in his dream to become a U. S. Senator and then President of the United States.
Can the Illinois 2012 tax hike be repealed, the state budget balanced and the 7 billion dollars in unpaid bills be handled without Draconian budget cuts?
Is there a reasonable fix for the Illinois state employee/teacher pension mess?
Is there a reasonable fix the the Illinois Medicaid problem?
