Watch Paul Meincke, ABC-7 News Reporter, discuss the Blagojevich retrial with show host Jeff Berkowitz

Jeff Berkowitz:  You know this stuff...your prediction? Is Rod Blagojevich going to be found guilty in his second trial of a significant number of counts?

Paul Meincke [ABC-7 News]: Let me just say this as a qualifier. I said in the first trial I thought he would be found guilty and he was on one count.  Everything else was hung. So the answer to the question is yes, I think he will be found guilty

This week's suburban edition of Public Affairs features Paul Meincke, veteran reporter at ABC-7 News.

You can soon watch the show hereShow host Jeff Berkowitz discusses with Meincke the odds of former IL Gov. Rod Blagojevich being convicted in his current public corruption trial of felony counts of attempted and conspiracy to commit extortion, wire fraud, solicitation of bribes and conspiracy to solicit and accept bribes and serving substantial prison time. Blago is already facing 1 to 5 years of prison time for his conviction at his first trial of lying to the FBI.  Among the other topics discussed in the show are the unusually high number of oblections lodged by the prosecutors to the defense counsel's cross examination of several of the government's witnesses, the unusual instructions by Judge Zagel already given to the jury, whther Judge Zagel is conducting the trial fairly, the prosecutors' change in strategy in the retrial, the strongest evidence presented by the government of  an illegal quid pro quo, and whether the U. S. Attorney's office is trying to criminalize politics.

The regular Chicago Metro suburban and City of Chicago airing schedules for Public Affairs with Jeff Berkowitz are included, below.

You can also watch the show with Paul Meincke on Cable Ch. 21 (CANTV) in Chicago at a date and time to be announced, shortly. The show was taped on May 30, 2011.

Jeff Berkowitz:  ...you've seen a lot  of trials...you covered this for ABC-7,  25 years at ABC, a little bit longer when we include... your prior work,  going back to Rock Island, right? as a  sports guy?

Paul Meincke [ABC 7 News, Chicago]: Right, sports guy.

Jeff Berkowitz:  You know this stuff...your prediction? Is Rod Blagojevich going to be found guilty in his second trial of a significant number of counts?

Paul Meincke: Let me just say this as a qualifier. I said in the first trial I thought he would be found guilty and he was on one count.  Everything else was hung. So the answer to the question is yes, I think he will be found guilty

Jeff Berkowitz:  of at least several counts.

Paul Meincke: Yes.  I don't know about all of them. There are some of them that are a little flimsy. The racetrack thing [withholding signing of a racetrack subsidy bill until Blagojevich receives a campaign contribution from a racetrack owner]--I'm not sure.  The construction thing, the tollway thing [offering an expanded tollway project  to roadbuilders in exchange for campaign conributions]? Maybe not.  The Senate seat [sale] is a problem for him.  The tapes [FBI wiretaps of Blagojevich, his staff and others] are very powerful. And, unlike the first trial, these tapes came in rapid fire--- The prosecution listened [to the jurors in the first trial] and wisely condensed,  streamlined--they went right for the jugular [in the retrial]. .

Jeff Berkowitz:  ... The government' s case, eleven days of trial  testimony--and  not all full days, That was much faster [than the first trial]--
