Jeff Berkowitz: Do you know why they didn't make that case?

Dan Proft: No, I don't know why [Cong. Jesse] Jackson wasn't arrested. The problem I have--

Dan Proft: ...What voters are looking at--how about my household budget? That's what I'm worried about... I'm worried about my household budget, so speak to me about my budget, my economic opportunities- That's Bill Brady's opportunity. That's Mark Kirk's opportunity

Should Cong. Jackson have been arrested?

Jeff Berkowitz: You said [the prosecutors] were weak on the Senate case [sale of the senate seat]. Did that involve [Cong.] Jesse Jackson, Jr.? It would seem to--

Dan Proft: Yes.

Jeff Berkowitz: Jackson [supporters] talking about people raising money [for Blagojevich] if he were appointed [to the Senate].

Dan Proft: That's one of the problems I have. I still don't know--

Jeff Berkowitz: Do you know why they didn't make that case?

Dan Proft: No, I don't know why [Cong. Jesse] Jackson wasn't arrested. The problem I have--

Jeff Berkowitz: Based on what you know, based on the evidence?

Dan Proft: Well, based on this...look, if you are monitoring somebody and they are going to do a drug deal, then you arrest buyer and seller.

Weeding out the differences between state and household budgets

Jeff Berkowitz; Folks... if you've heard that there is a 12 billion dollar [state] deficit, and Bill Brady has said he has a way to deal with it, do you want to know from Bill the specifics? Or, do you think as Dan Proft says, "you are getting into the weeds."

Dan Proft: Well, look, you want to know that he has a plan and it's a plan that makes sense- that he can quickly articulate-- for the attention span that people have for topics like pension reform. So, that's where you go--it's not getting into the weeds.
*************************
Dan Proft: By the way, one other point and it [applies] to the Senate race, too...everybody talks about the 12 billion dollar deficit, what voters are looking at--how about my household budget? That's what I'm worried about. State budget? You guys were put in charge to figure that out. I'm worried about my household budget, so speak to me about my budget, my economic opportunities. That's Bill Brady's opportunity. That's Mark Kirk's opportunity.
