Expert VS Everyday Woman Review on Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer and Palettes!

Hey Guys, Eliza here! So this is the first time that Jenna and I are doing back-to-back reviews of a product. As a bonafide beauty hoarder, I can say that I have done and tried it all and then some. My journey for the love of makeup started with a clear mascara and a natural-looking eyeshadow palette from CoverGirl when I was 12 years old and my love for eyeshadow was catapulted from love to obsession! Needless to say, I am a tough critic in this department. What am I looking for? Primer that works and eyeshadow that lasts all day. Colors that are true to the way they look in the packaging. I am also looking for a soft, natural look to full-blown pops of color. depending on my mood. I also want grease free and crease fee. Impossible? Never in my world!

Urban Decay serves me up some love! The Primer is the best that I have found! From the OG Eyeshadow Primer Potion to the Primer in Sin and in Eden, we are talking about long-lasting, crease free loving. This stuff is so strong that even after two face washes, my eyeshadow was not moving! My favorite Primer Potion is Sin. This color kills many birds with one stone. Think highlighter/eyeshadow if worn alone. What? Does it get any better than this?
Both Jenna and I also tried Urban Decay palettes in Feminine and Fun. I found the Feminine Palette to be very wearable! Great for brides, work, or travel. The colors in the palette give you the option to kick it up for night and play it cool during the day. This palette also comes with a 24/7 eyeliner in Zero. Uhhhh? Even the eyeliner is on point here! Come on Urban Decay, give someone else a chance! The other palette that I tried was the Fun palette! This palette is just what it says it is. Great for a gift, this palette is flirty, sassy and perfect for Vegas or a night out! Done with a nude lip, these shades can for sure be worn during the day. Both palettes come with a primer and the Fun palette also comes with a 24/7 eyeliner in Oil Slick. This eyeliner with a dash of glitter in it can also be worn alone!
Long story short, this is the best primer and eyeshadow that I have ever used and that is saying a lot!
What does Jenna have to say about it?
My biggest problem with makeup is actually putting it on. I have a strict routine I stick to every morning and I get all weird if it's thrown off. That being said, you can imagine how much I hate having to touch up. Solution? Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion. It's available in four different colors that can be used for a number of things, including highlighters under your brow bone or even a concealer. I used this stuff in the morning with their new Dangerous eyeshadow palette (we'll get to that in a bit) and my eyeshadow lasted throughout the day, my entire night out and was still holding strong the next morning. I didn't wash my face. Sue me.
Now onto the new Feminine, Fun and Dangerous eye palettes. All 3 are really pretty, but I'm a sucker for dark colors and went with the Dangerous set. What I liked most about them is that you can build from something subtle for daytime to a darker, more intense look at night. My favorites are Rockstar, a deep red-purple with a metallic base and Haight, a frosty blue-green. I used these, along with Oil Slick, to create a fun, smoky eye. I finished it off by lining my upper and lower lashline with Rockstar 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil. Each palette comes with 6 different shadows, a 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil and Eyeshadow Primer Potion.
Fun, Feminine and Dangerous palettes are $34 and Eyeshadow Primer Potion is available in Original, Eden, Greed and Sin and is $19. You can find both products at Sephora, ULTA, and select Macy's or online at sephora.com, ulta.com, macys.com, beauty.com and urbandecay.com.

  • I used to work in a cosmetic department, (which is a glorious/bad thing for someone who is a product junkie) and loved playing around with Urban Decay! I need to stock up on some of these new colors! Thanks for the post!

  • I have tried several eyeshadow primers (I have oily skin) and Urban Decay in Original and Sin are the BEST I have found...the only ones that keep me crease-free all day. I hope they never stop making the stuff!
