HUGO BOSS. It is always darkest before the dawn.

Hello friends! So, this blog post might be a little different than what you are used to from me. This particular blog post is actually my entry to a contest that HUGO BOSS is doing. None to fear, you will still get all of the beauty and drama that you are used to in this post, so read on!

To whom it may concern at HUGO BOSS,

Hello there! My name is Eliza Siep and I am a blogger that lives in Chicago, Illinois. I found out about your contest via a friend who always seems to have my back. I knew right away the contest was made for me. I have been blogging all things beauty for just a little over a year now. I find that I get a lot of pleasure from sharing my journey with all things beauty. I feel as though I have run the gamut of my industry of choice from rock to runway, everyday to evening. I live eat and breathe the things that I write about. I am a pure product of the MTV generation with pop culture and sub cultures under my belt at all times. I come to my blog armed with the knowledge of poring over every magazine and book known to man, but I always try to keep in mind who my reader really is. I know that not everyone knows what I know, nor do they really care. It is my job to give them the information that they need and give it to them in a way that they can understand, without all the fluff. I try to never take myself too seriously, while still having a bit of Anna Wintour in my back pocket.

I find that if it were not for the fashion industry, I would not have a leg to stand on in my day to day life. I look to the fashion industry to give me clues about the past, present and future of my industry. I make decisions most moments of most days depending on the temperature of the fashion industry. I turn around and then blog about those decisions in a way that most people can understand. I speak both languages, that of the people and that of fashion.

All of that being said, would I love to go to Berlin? Heck yea! Do I think I would be perfect? Um yea! So you gave me one task and that was to make this post creative and interesting. I know that just about anyone could say what I said above. I am now going to say what I do not think every contestant would or could say. In preparation to post this blog, I did a little research on HUGO BOSS and my findings were outstanding. I am not going to get all that far into the nitty gritty of things, but I learned that Hugo Boss hit some rough patches as a person and as a designer. I identify with this wrong place, wrong time, wrong people kind of life. To me, it sounds like Hugo Boss the designer did what he needed to do in a time that was less than desirable. I am not going to get into if the decisions that he made were right or wrong. I was not there, nor can I judge another persons decisions.

I, like Hugo Boss, have not been perfect. I, like Hugo, have traveled down a road of mistakes that I had to learn from publicly. I, like Hugo, did not give up. He kept going on no matter the cost. His legacy will live on for better or for worse. That is my only goal really. I would just like to leave a print on this world. The good, the bad and the down right ugly. My mother always told me that, "Our character is defined by what we do in the hard times." Hugo kept going. Now that sounds like something I would like to be a part of. The show must go on and as will I. We all know that it is always darkest before the dawn.

I am a smart match for this contest. I love fashion. I love Germany. I love HUGO BOSS. I look good on camera and my hair is not that bad either. Please give me a shot, I will not let you down. At least now you do know that if I do fall down, I will get right back up.

Thank you,
Eliza Siep
