So my ChicagoNow super human, Tracy Samantha Schmidt had an amazing idea not to long ago to have a 1929 inspired party! Of course, when I heard this idea I was crazy inspired and wanted to go all out. I googled "1920's makeup" and opened up a whole new world for myself. I guess that I didn't realize how much I was inspired on a daily basis by this time frame by ladies such as myself from back in the day. I read a lot about why this was a pivotal time for women and how this was the time that they came into there own. They cut there hair short and taped down there chest to look more like boys but then had this amazing face of really intense make up on. What? Is sounds like they beat Bowie to the punch! For the first time in a long time ladies were able to be really extreme and the results obviously carried over for a long time to come. If I had to guess I would say that the trends and makeup colors of the time we due to resources and experimentation. Money would have also been a huge factor playing into the situation as well. So in the end, what of this look can you use today? Wearing a headband with short hair and pinning up long hair. Draw on eyebrows thinner for a night by using concealer to get rid of your real brows and then just drawing on new ones.
DO NOT FREAKIN TWEEZE OUT YOUR BROWS FOR ONE NIGHT!!! GIRL, THEY WONT GROW BACK AND IF THEY DO THEY WILL BE A HOT MESS.
Use a sealer for those brows called She Laq from Benefit Cosmetics http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/gp/product/B000G6O036/sr=1-5/qid=1260556588/ref=sr_1_5/184-5471619-2873246?ie=UTF8&n=1289301011&bcBrand=core
Use Babe Cake liner as your eyeliner from Benefit http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/gp/product/B000FBLT9U/ref=pd_sim_0/184-5471619-2873246?ie=UTF8&bcBrand=core
The best part about this look is that you can kind of play around just kind of keep in mind that you are a "dark sad doll." Sad brows, sad dark eyes, pale skin, and a pretty little mouth. You can kind of play around and make it your own! I recommend this look for sure for NYE 2010. I think that this look with some lashes is Divine. Just throwing it out there.
