I am a blogger on Porait of Adoption. After 12 years working in a public relations firm, I experienced the dread of a corporate layoff and left to start my own firm Communications Strategies Group.
I love the outdoors and enjoy sailing, skiing, swimming and biking.
I also love art, international travel and learning about new cultures. Africa, Prague, France and Italy are among my favs. I graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI and have been fortunate to have attended the University of Grenoble in France.
I try to stay active in the community and enjoy mentoring girls. I work with the Girl Scouts, have tutored young women through Cabrini Green Connections, and am a founding board member of the Ani Foundation and serve on the Auxiliary Board of the Steppenwolf Theatre.
I have an adorable cockapoo, Otto, and am "Auntie" to my niece, Skyler, and nephew, Laighton, and many, many friends' children. And although I love them all dearly, I always wanted to be a mom and decided to pursue adoption.
I realized my dream when I adopted my daughter from Nepal in August. I've met so many single people who have asked me about the process and shared with me their thoughts about adoption for themselves. I hope to educate people about international adoption, share with you my experiences and hopefully inspire a few who may be contemplating bringing a little one into their lives.
