Ten Ways to Donate to Puerto Rico for Hurricane Relief

As a result of Hurricane Maria, conditions in Puerto Rico are desperate. Puerto Ricans are American citizens, and they deserve our help.

  • No power:Hurricane Maria knocked out power to the island of 3.4 million Americans.
  • Dwindling food and fuel: Residents are facing hunger as well as a fuel crisis.
  • Curfew enforced: Due to extreme conditions, Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rossello has set a dawn-to-dusk curfew.

  1. Save the Children
    Save the Children is currently on the ground in Puerto Rico responding to the needs of children. We are coordinating closely with the local partners on the ground to assess the specific needs of children and families amid reports of massive damage.     The Hurricane Maria Community Relief & Recovery Fund will be housed at the Center for Popular Democracy (CPD).  One hundred percent of monies raised will be used to support immediate relief, recovery, and equitable rebuilding in Puerto Rico for the communities hit hardest by the storm. The Fund is governed by organizations like Puerto Rico-based Taller Salud, the G8 of Caño Martín Peña, and other local, grassroots organizations.  The Fund will support organizations working with these hardest hit communities in Puerto Rico.
