R2D2 cake and spaceship cake for Katie the Star Wars Girl

September 10th is Katie's birthday.  Last year, two months after she turned seven, she was taunted at school for being a Star-Wars-loving girl, and the geek community gave her a ton of love and support.  This year, when I asked her what kind of birthday cake she wanted me to make, she replied without hesitation, Star Wars!

I ended up making two cakes for her.  One is R2D2 and another is a spaceship that says, May the Force Be with Katie.  Here are pictures of the cakes in progress and the final results.

Happy Birthday, Katie, and May the Force Be With You!

I have the same R2-D2 cake pan. My mom bought it many, many, many years ago. I think she may have gotten it for my second birthday in 1981 or thereabouts. Love that pan, love that cake, love that little robot.

This is the first I'm hearing of Katie's story, and kudos to you and her for persevering. I was a Star Trek geek when I was younger, back in the day before TNG got popular and when liking the original series was a big no-no. Got made fun of quite a bit for taking the novels with me to school to read during my down time.
