This is a major reason I left the GOP after 44 years as a loyal supporter. Let’s be very clear about something. It is not enough to condemn White Nationalists, Neo-Nazis, and the KKK. Members of the GOP must also condemn Donald Trump for his apologist comments toward the racists in Charlottesville, VA on Saturday.
I can no longer rationalize, or try to explain away what has happened to the GOP over the past four decades. All I can say now, and not be an apologist myself is the GOP has become a racist and anti-Semitic political party.
Half measures by Members of the House and Senate
Only the absolutely rank stupid would try to give moral equivalence to White Supremacists, Neo-Nazis, and the KKK. Many Members of Congress have lined up to denounce White Supremacy, Nazism, and the KKK as concepts.
A conceptual denouncement is a lame attempt at skirting the issue of Donald Trump and the GOP’s taste for racism and bigotry. As Speaker Ryan tried to do when he tweeted and reported by Politico:
“SPEAKER PAUL RYAN (@SpeakerRyan): We must be clear, White Supremacy is repulsive. This bigotry is counter to everything this country stands for. There can be no moral ambiguity”
You are right, Speaker Ryan, there can be no moral ambiguity. So please clarify what action the House of Representatives is going to take up in regard to this reprehensible policy of President Trump?
Politico also reports that Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) is one of the few GOP leaders who had the courage to denounce President Trump by name. Politico reports the Senator tweeted: “
SEN. MARCO RUBIO (R-FLA.) (@marcorubio):“Mr. President, you can’t allow #WhiteSupremacists to share only part of blame. They support idea which cost nation & world so much pain 5/6” … “The #WhiteSupremacy groups will see being assigned only 50% of blame as a win. We can not allow this old evil to be resurrected 6/6”
The cat seems to have the tongue of Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell (R-KY). He has been quiet. I wonder if his constituents in Kentucky are a reason Mitch has lost his voice? The Imperial Klans of America is headquartered in Dawson Springs, KY. Many Southern Members of Congress seem to have developed laryngitis or arthritis that keeps them from typing out statements of condemnation for Trump and his support of White Supremacists.
The Southern Strategy welcomed racists into the GOP with open arms. Donald Trump is merely the first GOP President to be open about GOP support from racists.
It’s ironic that for a man who is such a well-documented liar we must give him credit for standing up for his racist pals. Donald Trump and the GOP have buoyed the White Nationalist Movement. You have given those who hate minorities, hate Jews, hate Muslims, and hate Catholics a seat at the table of power.
The Praise is rolling in from White Supremacists for the President
The President walking back his words of a day earlier has drawn praise for President Trump. From David Duke and other White Supremacists. They should support him. He raised those who protest anti-Semitism and racism to the same level.
Are they at the same level? How many Counter-Protesters are in jail today for murdering a White Supremacist? How many White-Supremacists were murdered by Counter-Protesters? The answer in both cases is zero.
How many Counter Protesters were murdered by White Supremacists? How many are White Supremacist in jail for murdering a counter-protester? In this case, the answer to both questions is one. It sure doesn’t appear to be “equal.”
Of course, let’s blame the Jews
I mentioned earlier that the GOP has become anti-Semitic. At this point, I will hear from some apologist, “Donald Trump is the best President for Jews in years.” I will be accused by White Supremacists and their useful fools of “Playing the Jew card” with the photo in this article. I will read individual cases of Congressmen and Senators who say they would move heaven and earth to make sure Nazism didn’t rise again.
Fine words, but if that is the case, why do you invite them into your Party and tolerate a President who panders to them? Why do you tolerate anti-Semites in high positions in Government? Why are you silent about Donald Trump and his pander to racists and anti-Semites? Why do you do nothing?
At the rally, The Atlantic reports that White Nationalists were chanting, “Jews will not replace us.” Jewish conspiracy theories abound among these people. From “Jews control the banks,” to “Jews run the media,” they are convinced of a worldwide Jewish conspiracy for Global Domination.
Another major Trump Supporter, Alex Jones, the conspiracy theorist, took to the airways to proclaim the Nazis at the march are Jewish actors there to discredit President Trump.
Donald Trump is not the best President for Israel in “years,” a slam at Barack Obama. He courted Jews heavily during the campaign. He touted that his own daughter and son-in-law are Orthodox Jews. That does not protect him from anti-Semitism.
Within six months of taking the oath of office, President Trump threw Israel under the bus in Syria. For his good pal Putin, he pulled the aid for those who are opposing the biggest Jew-hater in the world at the moment, Bashir al-Assad of Syria. Assad and his client, Hezbollah, now have an unobstructed access to Israel’s Northern Border and renewed access to the Mediterranean Sea adjacent to Israel.
It is painful to me to see what the GOP has become.
Our House is not in order
The USA is now the laughing stock of the World. We have serious international and trade issues we need to address. How can we address them with our own house so out of order? How can we speak with any moral authority, when our Head of State has no morality or sense of decency?
It is up to you, the House of Representatives and the Senate to remove this growing cancer on America.
