The Seven Commandments of The GOP Religion

Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) finally spoke about the Lavrov issue and his words confirmed what many people suspected.  He spoke about what is important to the GOP.  The GOP agenda is cynical and cruel, and Senator McConnell makes no bones about it.

Senator McConnell went on camera yesterday and gave a reaction to the news of Trump leaking material to the Russian foreign minister.  In his statement, he summarized what is important to the GOP.  The Senator said:

“I read the Washington Post story and I read General McMasters response, which tends to refute the story, rebut the story. I think we could do with a little less drama from the White House on a lot of things so that we can focus on our agenda, which is deregulations, tax reform, repealing and replacing Obamacare.”

It appears Senator McConnell marginalizes sharing sensitive intelligence with an enemy and wants to get back to the bigger task at hand of stripping 24 million Americans of healthcare assistance and giving the rich big tax breaks.  That is what is important to him, and the GOP.

White working class people are the ones who are hurt badly by the GOP agenda.  It takes the power of preaching politics as a religion to get them to enthusiastically participate in the self-harm the GOP agenda will inflict on them.

It is quite a trick but religious zeal can get people to go against self-interest and think they are doing right.  The GOP is no longer a political party.  It is a nascent religion in the Party of Trump.

There is a new GOP Gospel these days.  It’s the Gospel According to Trump.  It has a lot of followers and adherents.  Apparently, Senator McConnell is one of its Apostles.

It sneers at patriotism and puts party and the elite above the Nation.  It doesn’t care if a foreign Government interferes in our elections, or that a President gives sensitive information to our enemies.

Here are the points that are important to the new Religion espoused by Donald Trump and his faithful followers, like Mitch McConnell.

Thou shalt put party above the Nation, but only if it is the Republican Party.  Classified security material being leaked to our enemy is not important.  Pay no mind to it because your Supreme President shall be considered right in all things.

Thou shalt not help the poor.  The poor are poor because they are lazy, and want to suck the public teat dry and not work.  The safety net is a hammock and all this pandering to the poor just enables them.  Let them fend for themselves.  That is the view of the GOP as articulated in Speaker Paul Ryan’s Hammock Statement the other day.

Thou shalt not help the sick.  We’re all going to die anyway, so why on earth should we try to heal the sick that also happens to be poor?  Let them die and if you are a productive member of society and can buy your own healthcare then good for you.  Healthcare is not a right and too bad for you, I have mine.  Let natural selection work.

Thou shalt turn your eyes away from looking at injustice.  Just ignore injustice unless it is the freedom of Evangelicals that is being abridged as they seek to eliminate the line between government and religion.

Thou shalt not condemn those who objectify women.  That is a man’s right to look at them as sex objects.  It is the way God made us so we can perpetuate the species.  Especially give them a pass if they are a GOP President.

Thou shalt not question the Supreme President, Vice President, GOP Speaker or GOP Majority Leader.  They are incapable of wrongdoing and by The Hand of God are in their chosen positions in Congress.  If you spite them, you are showing spite for The Creator Himself.  They are synonyms for America itself and to question them or their leadership is blasphemy.

Thou shalt ignore everything written in the Bible about compassion.  It’s just a liberal plot to take what is rightfully yours.  Just remove any thoughts of helping the poor, sick, elderly or minorities from your minds.  I AM THE PARTY, I have spoken.

That is what is being taught at the First Church of the GOP.
